Old Pension Scheme 2024: Big news for employees, new order issued on OPS
Old Pension Scheme is a scheme under which half the main salary is provided to the government employees even after retirement from the post.

The benefit of this scheme is ensured for both the working employees and the retired employees. In Himachal Pradesh, one of the main states of the country, the benefit of Old Pension Scheme was also given to the employees, but this scheme was discontinued in 2003.
Due to the demand of the employees, the work process on this scheme has been started again in 2022 and in 2023 this scheme was restarted as an election guarantee of the Sukhu government. Very good news has come for the retired and retired employees of Himachal Pradesh that the benefit of Old Pension Scheme is to be given to all of them.
Such employees who were not getting Old Pension due to not having 10 years of service due to the contract period will now be given the benefit.

In Himachal Pradesh, under the Old Pension Scheme, such a rule was made that the benefit of old pension will be given only to those employees whose service period is 10 years or more, under which they had initially worked on contract basis and this period was not counted in regular service.
In such a case, the old pension was not available to them as the contract based tenure was not counted but now the contract based period will also be added to the regular service and after combining both and preparing a period of 10 years, the benefit of the old pension scheme will be given to all the employees.
How many employees will get the benefit of old pension: While re-implementing this scheme in 2023 by the Sukku government, it was told that out of those employees of the state who have retired and have not yet got the benefit of the old pension scheme, more than 1 lakh thirty thousand employees will be made beneficiaries of the Old Pension Scheme. For retired employees, to avail the benefits of Old Pension Scheme, it is mandatory to give your option in the office through the department head within 1 month.
If you complete the Old Pension process within this stipulated time, then you will be added to the list of beneficiary employees by the government.
Memorandum issued by the head of the Finance Department. For your information, let us tell you that a retired employee woman Sheela Devi had applied for the old pension scheme in the Supreme Court, under which the Supreme Court had given a verdict in favor of this woman.
Due to this verdict, the head of the Finance Department, Mr. Devesh Kumar, has issued a memorandum regarding the old pension scheme.
While issuing the memorandum, the Finance Department has to provide the benefit of Old Pension Scheme to all such retired employees who have given contract and regular service.
All the employees whose service tenure is more than 10 years should submit the option to get the benefit of Old Pension Scheme.
Facility for employees by Sukhu Government : There was a cause of concern among the employees when the benefits of the old pension scheme were discontinued from 2003 because now they were not able to get the said pension for their living after retirement. Sukhu government has done a very convenient work for such employees. Now more than 1 lakh retired employees of the state can get half pension from their salary for their financial convenience which is a very good thing for them. This scheme which was started as an election guarantee has proved to be a very welfare scheme for the retired employees of the state.
