Wishing all the best for the 5th state conference of Telengana All Pensioners and Retired persons Association being held on
15th and 16th April 2023 ,
I have some my views to be shared with your good self in this context .
For the past 10 years in movement of pension problem of EPS 1995 as an activist me joining the protests with the demands of fair pension to the honble govt at different places , at state capital , new delhi and other places , it is understood by all the pensioners that the honble govt and the EPFO confined to the policy of defined contribution and defined benefit unmindful of it’s ill consequences for life survival of retirees are not inclined as yet to accede to the demands of hike of minimum pension with inflation linked dearance relief , determination of basic pension on actual wages unconditionally and govt medical facility what the service pension calls for , ensured of socio economic security .
The attitude of the honble govt has been found negative to the concept of the provident fund and miscellaneous provisions act 1952 enacted more than 70 years back that has failed it’s basic object altogether .
It has done only banking business what the banks do that too with the stoppage of return of capital of pension fund that stands in question and nothing so of social security to the retirees of PF act for their long prime service .
The minimum pension of EPS pensioners provided is worse than old age pension to the senior citizens provided by some state govts .
Being a big non banking organisation the EPFO has stood up with huge corpus of provident fund and pension fund in order of more than 20 lakhs crores but the institution saddled with litigations ,corruption , fund investments in dubious companies and such other practices exhibits total failure to provide the social security to the PF subscribers in retirement .
There is also a failure , very sadly to say , on the part of EPS 95 pensioners too who went to the courts not questioning the total operative system of fair pension as a whole with the inseperable of provisions of the service pension viz linkage of inflation based dearance relief , the adequate minimum liveable pension,
Timely periodical revision of the pension besides govt medical facility.
Above all it is not questioned as to why the implementation of higher pension wages has not been done bringing to the knowlege of all pensioners for option on record as done in respect of the option of EPS 1995 .
Had it been done so the meagre problem of pension would not have arisen in the scale as seen now .
Resultant consequences are before us not getting any bit of relief in pension as yet . The higher pension is not likely to be settled so soon entangled with impractical imposed conditions that can not be complied with by the majority of EPS 1995 pensioners for the reasons known . The Kerala State pensioners and others won’t keep quite with unsettlement of higher pension .
Keeping alive the higher pension issue to be left for it’s own leagal course of scrutiny , there is a foremost and dire need of majority of EPS 1995 pensioners for the minimum liveable pension with inflation linked dearance relief and govt medical facility for sustenance of present cost of life as not being benefited of higher pension with their EPS 95 pensionable service unaccounted of the FPS 71 long pension fund contributory service (the pre- service of EPS 95 ) .
The unbearable poverty that haunts them very much for the unspeakable sufferings of livelihood and also end the lives in desperate , disgrace and disgust what it is not being taken notice of sadly by the honble govt despite cry on streets with contineous peaceful protests against the existing pension scheme perpetuated over the years .
The discussion on pensioners wellbeing and constitutional right to life protected of economic security may please take place in the meeting that is of seriousness nature in case of poor ,very poor EPS 95 pensioners many shelterless and supportless in nuclear family system with bad unethical culture of children even in case of highly paid employees that have come to notice .
No one is there to hear their cry in bad economic position of dependency on others at mercy with no other source of income .
So on priority you , holding the position of good stature for the movement of pension may please have discourse in the conference on the moderate minimum pension the retirees have been striving for over the years for a solution that lies with the honble govt unsettled .
It is widely known fact that the political parties always keep an eye on the vote bank of the citizens before focussing on their problems to be solved .
Our strength that accounts in crores is not ignorable as vote bank .
So it is felt necessary that a team of forefront leaders of pensioners association make efforts to meet the honble prime minister early with only one issue of moderate minimum pension with inflation linked dearance relief and request for grant of it .
So please take necessary steps on the matter in view of the serious situation being faced by the pensioners with meagre unliveable minimum pension.
